Lacrosse is coming back to the Olympics in 2028, bringing the ancient Indigenous game full circle back to North American soil, but the people who invented the game might not be allowed to play it.
Articles like this are why I'm a subscriber Kahlil, thank you. That Lacrosse will be celebrated, in the land where it originated, without its originators is beyond irony.
Thank you for bringing this out into the open. Thank you for recognizing all our indigenous people are going through and spotlighting the cruel treatment they have endured from "civilized" people. I wish I could afford to support you financially, but I can repost what you post - sometimes on other platforms to keep spreading the word.
Thank you for writing this extremely well researched article! A few months ago, I was shocked to learn that my Stanford & Yale educated sisters did not know that lacrosse was created by Native American people. Last week I sent them your article & I hope they become paid subscribers also!
I can't believe this, it's wild. I wrote The Guardian story you cite as your second reference. Thanks so much for reading and for writing about it yourself. Sometimes you think your work doesn't have much impact, so it really means a lot when you see that it has. I hope both our articles help people think more critically about the intersection of sports and justice, Indigenous Rights, and the history of settler colonialism. Again, thank you. I'll be recommending your newsletter to my readers.
Thank you for amplifying this story that often goes unnoticed, and very well researched. My hope is that since the 2028 Olympics are on First Nations soil, it will be harder for the IOC to ignore this travesty. We all need to continue to share this story so loudly the IOC must allow the Haudenosaunee to compete under their own flag.
Wow! I had no idea lacrosse is an indigenous sport! Thank you for researching and sharing these important facts.
This is ridiculous. The Native Americans should be allowed to play in the Olympics!

I’m really glad that I read this. The ongoing colonial oppression is insane.

I can't afford to buy a coffee at a coffee shop.
Thank you, Mr Greene 💙
